The press release published by IPOS-I announcing the presentation of this award is provided below:
IPOS International (IPOS-I), the international arm of IPOS, and Patinformatics, LLC, received the Stu Kaback Business Impact Award at the 2017 Patent Information Users Group (PIUG) Conference on 22 May 2017. The award is designed to recognise the achievements of patent information professionals who have, through the course of their work, made a distinct impact on an organization. This is the first year that the Stu Kaback Business Award has been awarded to a government-linked organization. It recognizes the impact of IPOS-I in Singapore’s transformation into an innovation-driven economy, through its “Singapore Patent Landscape Report 2014”.
In 2014, IPOS-I established its in-house patent analytics and technology fore-sighting capability to serve the needs of the Singapore government. Within the first year of development, IPOS-I published the “Singapore Patent Landscape Report”, providing in-depth insights into the innovative space of the Singapore economy. This was in turn used by government organizations in their outreach and partnerships with private business enterprises to help drive R&D and business innovation.
Assistant Chief Executive of IPOS and Board member of IPOS-I, Mr Ng Kok Wan, said, “We are honored and humbled to receive the Stu Kaback Business Impact Award. The award is testament to IPOS’ on-going efforts as an innovation agency that uses its IP expertise and networks to help drive Singapore’s future economic growth. We will continue to advance and grow our technology fore-sighting expertise so as to help our innovators create and capture value from their inventions.”
Chair of PIUG, Ms Martha Yates, added, “On behalf of the PIUG Board of Directors and the Stu Kaback Business Impact Award Committee, I am pleased to present this award to IPOS International and Patinformatics, LLC for their outstanding contribution to the field of patent analytics. PIUG was impressed with the quality of applicants for this award and we look forward to continuing to recognize such outstanding work in the future.”.
Managing Director of Patinformatics, LLC, Anthony Trippe, who served as a mentor to help the team to develop their initial capability in patent analytics and co-recepient of the award, commented, “It has been an honour, and a pleasure to work with IPOS-I in the development of the Singapore Patent Landscape Report. The level of dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the organization, and its personnel was truly world-class. Of the report itself, I can safely say that it is based on a rigorous, and statistically relevant approach and is truly one of the best pieces of work in the field of patent analytics that I have seen from a government institute.”
