Credit Cards and Intellectual Property - Guest Infographic Post

Here is another infographic from the good folks at ClearViewIP. This one is titled Credit Cards & Intellectual Property and while it has a decidedly UK slant to it I think it is very interesting in what it has to say about this changing field.

In particular I think its worth considering the patents related to chips in the cards. These types of cards have not really taken off yet in the US but they are popular in other parts of the world so I wonder what impact that will have on the protection of this technology and if licensing or litigation in this area will be influenced as a result.

It might also be interesting to look at the patent families associated with some of the earliest chip in cards patents to see if they will be enforceable in the US if this country ever decides to start moving in that direction.
